In-house videos have become big business
and two Garland companies are utilizing this medium to enhance
their training programs. Greg Coon of Dallas-based Eyecon
video Productions announced the completion of two new videos
for Gardiner Communications and AmeriPlan Dental Care.
Gardiner Communications, located
at 3605 Security Street, is a manufacturer of satellite TVRO
systems. Their new video is entitled, "A New Employee
Orientation Video." It will be used to train new employees
and provide information on procedures. Karen Burlbaw, Gardiner's
personnel administrator stated, "This has been an effective
way to get information to our new hires. The response has
been very good and many come back and ask additional questions."
Burlbaw added the existing employees are responsive to the
film, as well, and because many of them are in the film, provide
good feedback. Burlbaw also added the company is looking into
doing more specific training films with Eyecon, such as mechanical
assembly functions. Another upcoming development within Gardiner
Communications is a plan to add a second shift by the end
of the year providing additional jobs in the Garland area.
AmeriPlan Dental Care, although
not actually based in Garland, has over two hundred brokers
and several thousand members in the city. AmeriPlan, a direct
sales networking company providing dental, health and vision
plans, contracted for a video which describes its plan, how
it works and how to generate new business.
